Portrait: What defines the Mackmyra Identitet.

Swedish oak and smoke from peat and juniper are central pillars of Mackmyra. The distillery from Gävle, north of Stockholm, was the first to use Virgin Oak Casks made from Swedish oak. The result was a whiskey that was bursting with flavor but still delicately nuanced. An effect of the contrasting cell structure and shape of the lactones in the wood.

The smoking recipe is inspired by the old Swedish tradition of using juniper smoke to preserve fish or meat. This Mackmyra-owned “Svensk Rök” gives the whiskeys of the Scandinavian pioneers unmistakable characteristics.

For the first time, a single malt whisky now combines these two main ingredients from the Swedish distillery - and describes their soul and character : Mackmyra Identitet is a lively encounter between two great personalities. A smoky whiskey in which the taste experience characterized by campfire smoke, citrus, vanilla, brown sugar and ginger becomes increasingly intense and finally reaches its climax in a long finish.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Mackmyra Identitet tastes like

• Nose: a mix of ripe oranges and smoke, along with light aromas of roasted nuts and fresh vanilla
• Palate: warm and mouth-filling with lots of sweet smoke and a lovely bitter note, then getting sweeter with notes of cane sugar and vanilla fudge - with the roasted nuts again in the background some orange and ginger root
• Finish: long in the smoky-spicy finish - the ginger is present, plus the slightly bitter hints alternating with chocolate
