Portrait: What makes the Plantation El Salvador 2015 Red Pineau des Charentes Cask Finish.

Distilled by Licorera Cihuatán in the column still from sugar syrup and molasses, the Plantation El Salvador 2015 Red Pineau des Charentes Cask Finish was initially matured for five years in El Salvador in former classic American Bourbon Casks, then Ferrand left the Rum  in France for two years in former Ferrand Cognac Casks and for another year in former Red Pineau des Charentes Casks from France.

Pineau des Charentes is an aperitif made in the west of France. 
Pineau tastes sweet, but with a certain bite of tartaric acid.

Tasting Notes: This is what the Plantation El Salvador 2015 Red Pineau des Charentes Cask Finish tastes like

  • Nose: ripe papaya with nutty aromas, some vanilla and slightly sweetened condensed milk
  • Palate: fruity-sweet in taste with a subtle hint of vanilla, pleasant acidity with a subtle spice
