This whiskey consists of a blend of malt and grain whiskey, with the malt whiskey delivering fruity notes of apricot and pear, while the grain portion brings typical cereal aromas and roasted aromas.

The whiskey matures in three different types of casks. The Virgin Oak casks are new, burnt out or toasted casks from the USA, which give the whiskey toasted aromas as well as notes of vanilla and chocolate. The Seasoned Oak Casks also come from the USA and were previously used for Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey. They bring nuances of plum, banana and sweet notes of butterscotch and caramel. The sherry casks from Spain, in which Oloroso sherry was previously stored, provide spicy and fruity raisin aromas. The combination of these different casks gives Slane Irish Whiskey an incredibly complex and rich taste.

Besides its intense taste, Slane is also part of a larger sustainability effort. As part of whiskey production, a total of 14,000 trees were planted in 2021 to reduce the carbon footprint and protect biodiversity. These trees are said to later provide oak for the casks used in the manufacturing process.

The Slane Irish Whiskey has an alcohol content of 40% vol. and is offered in a 0.7 liter bottle. With 40% vol. this whiskey can be described as mild.
