Portrait: What the Loch Lomond Steam & Fire makes out.
The Loch Lomond Steam & Fire reflects Loch Lomond's diverse and unique distillation techniques as well as the in-house cooperage with its bespoke and specially charred barrels.
With Loch Lomond Steam & Fire presents Loch Lomond with double distillation using Scotland's unique Straight Neck Pot Stills and more traditional Swan Neck Pot Stills, how the fruity signature style can be created via distillation. The Loch Lomond Steam & Fire aged in three types of American oak casks and received a 10 month finish in first fill heavily charred casks produced in Loch Lomond's own award-winning cooperage burned out on site. The strong burn of the casks creates a melted brown sugar character and a rich, buttery mouthfeel with notes of orange and dark chocolate.
One of only four Scottish distilleries owns Loch Lomond has its own cooperage. In the cooperage, over 20,000 barrels are processed and produced every year. The repairs and cask burning are carried out to the highest standards to ensure each cask is perfect for maturing Loch Lomond whiskies. This care not only pays off with the excellent malts, but is also rewarded at the highest levels. Last but not least, Andy Moore, Head Cooper at Loch Lomond, was named the first "Cooper of the Year" at Whisky Magazine's "Icons of Whiskey 2023" awards. This makes Andy the first winner in the 17-year history of the "Icons of Whisky 2023" awards to be honored in this new category in 2023.
The innovation distillery Loch Lomond celebrates its award-winning bottlings and was named “Most Awarded Distillery” by the 2023 San Francisco World Spirit Competition. The jurors praised the distillery for its consistency, quality and innovation.
