Portrait: What makes the Glen Scotia 15 year old old.

Glen Scotia is one of the last distilleries in Campbeltown, Scotland - the whiskey region has long maintained a very special and long-standing relationship with bourbon and American oak casks.  

This traditional cask selection is a perfect match for Glen Scotia's slow fermentation and small batch distillation. The casks and style of distillation produce a balanced fruit character, sweet toffee and background spice that define malt whisky.  

With just a very short finish in ex-Oloroso sherry casks, the 15-year-old Glen Scotia lets all of these classic regional characteristics shine through and delivers  real taste of Campbeltown Whisky.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Glen Scotia 15 year old tastes like

  • Nose: clear aromas of citrus peel and ginger biscuits , pleasantly sweet aromas of ripe apricots and fruit salad - behind it spicy oak and baked fruits
  • Palate: the nose suggests full, ripe fruit notes, but the taste is surprisingly dry, then developing Notes of caramel and spicy oak
  • Finish: the slightly dry finish is harmonious and round
