In Campbeltown, in the southern part of the Kintyre Peninsula, whisky has been distilled for many centuries. The oldest evidence dates back to 1591. The Springbank distillery is also located in the former whiskey capital of the world and has been producing whisky of the highest quality here since 1828. 
Springbank is an independent distillery and one of the few distilleries in Scotland that is still run by members of the original family - the Mitchells. 
Today's owner Hedley G. Wright is her direct descendant. In general, this distillery is a living tradition: The premises consist not only of the original headquarters from 1828, but also of parts of the former distilleries Longrow, Rieclachan, Union, Springside and Argyll...

• Nose: Aromas of citrus peel, pineapple and fudge - behind this smoked ham and tomato leaves - light peat smoke over everything
• Palate: tropical fruits - mainly mango, coconut and papaya, followed by liquorice, cola and pastry - honey and light earthy notes behind it
• Finish: long finish with orange peel, caramel and burning campfire logs
