In colonial times, Denmark was a rum stronghold and imported rum from the Danish West Indies from the Caribbean to Denmark.

At that time, the pharmacist Albert Heinrich Riise made a name for himself importing and bottling Caribbean rum.

The A.H. Riise Royal Danish Navy Rum - The Frigate Jylland commemorates this time and pays tribute to the frigates of the Danish Navy.

The frigate Jylland was the last sailing ship to produce the rum for A.H. Riise brought to Denmark - today the frigate can be viewed as a museum ship in Copenhagen.

Tasting Notes: This is how the A.H. Riise Royal Danish Navy Rum - The Frigate Jylland

  • Nose: spicy aromas of exotic spices and cedar wood, behind which are soft caramel, molasses and slightly nutty aromas
  • Palate: soft and velvety in taste with clear notes of ripe red fruits, soft caramel again - with light hints of bergamot and bitter orange
  • Finish: long finish with soft spicy notes and an elegant sweetness
