When Denis McCarthy, Ger McCarthy and John O 'Connell founded West Cork in 2003, opening a distillery made little economic sense. Equipped with the distilling knowledge of their families, the food developer and the two fishermen got started anyway. Today, West Cork is home to Skibbereen - as the largest, wholly Irish-owned distillery in the country.
A new special edition bridges the gap to the former profession two founders. The "Maritime Release"comprises four fillings in bottles that were mouth-blown in the style of floating balls for West Cork. These hollow glass spheres once gave fishing nets buoyancy. The pouring spouton the side allows for smoother pouring.
With ideal drinking strength, the Irish quartet unfolds varied aromas from different finishes.
The West Cork Maritime Release - Rum Cask owes its fruity and roasted notes to the finish in rum casks from Venezuela.

- Nose: ripe berries and stone fruit are present, behind them barley and spicy oak, some vanilla
- Palate: mouth-filling and soft, very harmonious - the fruity notes are joined by clear roasted notes of wood and nuts
