The Double Wood is stored in two different casks.
First for 11.5 years in bourbon casks and then 6 months in selected sherry casks.
The sherry is unmistakable in the aroma and taste of Balvenie clear recognizable , in addition, light orange tones.
Tasting Notes: this is how the Balvenie Double Wood
- Aroma: ground barley, slightly nutty, then fruity notes of grapefruit and cherries
- Taste: Sweet on the palate, the fruitiness is clear - now orange and red berries, slightly spicy with some vanilla - and in the very background you think some peat
- Finish: dry and spicy finish, pleasantly warming
