Portrait: What makes the Slyrs Jägerkamp Mountain Edition so special.
The Slyrs founder Florian Stetter had a vision of an Upper Bavarian whisky during a study trip to Scotland.
He realized it in the heart of the Bavarian Alps: With great attention to detail, the best Bavarian raw materials and a gentle manufacturing process, the Slyrs Whiskey Distillery in Neuhaus produces it today a fruity-malty original at Schliersee: the Slyrs Bavarian Single Malt Whisky.
Mountains on the doorstep, an idea in mind: Slyrs Whisky, which breathes the mountain air of the Upper Bavarian Alps and matures to perfection there.
In 2014, Slyrs founding partner Anton Stetter and managing director and master distiller Hans Kemenater put this project into practice.
They used the ski lift to transport around 50 specially selected whiskey barrels to an altitude of 1501 meters, to the summit of the mountain Stümpfling to the unique Slyrs high-altitude camp.
There the whisky matures at 1,501m in the purest mountain air and with extreme temperature fluctuations of up to 60 degrees.
In 2023, the Jägerkamp is the namesake of the Slyrs Mountain Edition.
The Bannwand spring rises at the foot of the 1,746 meter high mountain. The pure alpine spring water from this mountain spring forms the basis for the unique taste of the Slyrs whiskies, including the Mountain Edition.
This single malt whisky matures at an altitude of 1,501 meters in the Slyrs high altitude camp in the purest mountain air, with extreme temperature fluctuations of up to 60 degrees.
