Portrait: what makes the Nc'Nean Huntress 2023 Woodland Candy special.
Nc'nean knows how to go his own way. The women-run pioneering distillery has already made an impressive mark in terms of sustainable whiskey production. Located on the scenic Morvern peninsula, the coastal distillery relyes exclusively on renewable energy and distills its single malt from 100 percent organically grown Scottish barley.
Nc'nean is also becomes the first distillery in the UK to reach net-zero emissions for production - exceeding the Scottish whiskey industry's 2040 target by almost 20 years.
In addition to the well-being of the planet, Nc'nean follows another path: innovative taste experiences. For the limited series Huntress, founder Annabel Thomas and her team are experimenting with yeast - the ingredient for fascinating aromas.
Huntress 2023: Woodland Candy is the first Nc'nean whisky , which is based on four types of yeast. The unconventional recipe of the single malt includes e.g. red wine and white wine yeast for the first time.
A dram from the dark recycled bottle unfolds a complex profile of buttery toffee, wild berries and herbal spices.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Nc'Nean Huntress 2023 Woodland Candy tastes
- Nose: at the beginning fruity aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries, followed by some black currants, then buttery toffee aromas and some vanilla develop - above all fresh herbs
- Palate: soft and harmonious - the fruit again, now more clearly toffee and caramel, the herbal tones are also more present
- Finish: harmonious and round on the finish - the fruit recede somewhat and make room for spicy notes
