With Destination Mackmyra takes you to the different places where your Swedish whisky is stored or enjoyed - from Mackmyra's 35 meter high "gravity distillery" in the archipelago off Stockholm to the Seine in Paris.
The single malt made from unpeated barley matures mostly in barrels, that previously contained port wine and oloroso. They give the whisky deep notes of red grapes, raisins and a beautiful chestnut colour. Along with American oak casks that contribute notes of vanilla caramel, the end result is balanced, yet complex and round.
Sweden only ended after Mackmyra was founded Pushed onto the whiskey map in the 1990s. The pioneer distillery is accustomed to innovative and versatile products made from local ingredients. In addition to non-smoky whisky, the Scandinavians from Gävle distill smoky single malt and kil barley malt over Swedish peat.
