The Oamaruvian Doublewood Cask Strength - The New Zealand Whisky Co.

In New Zealand, since the 1930s 19th century whisky produced.

At that time came Scottish emigrants to the island, who of course did not want to give up their "water of life".

The whisky industry thrived until the 1870s before it went aground was stamped out by legislation.

In the 1950s this whisky production was revived.

In 1974 the Willowbank Distillery opened in Dunedin, which produced well-known whiskies such as Wilsons or 45 South.

Willowbank was founded in the 1980s by Seagrams, at that time the world's largest distillery , bought out and developed under this new leadership.

Whisky production came to a quick end in 1997 when Seagrams sold the Willowbank distillery to Fosters, who ceased whisky production in New Zealand and the stills sent to Fiji by the Willowbank distillery to make rum with them.

In 2009 the last 443 casks were bought by the New Zealand Whisky Company founded for this purpose.

The single malt whisky distilled in Dunedin first matured in bourbon casks and received a finish in New Zealand red wine casks made of French oak in the coastal climate of Oamaru. 
The 100% naturally dark rarity unfolds at a cask strength of 52.4%vol. Alcohol content Notes of rich toffee, dried fruit, soft spices and hints of sea spray.
