What is special about Kanosuke?

The Kanosuke Distillery is located on Fukiagehama, one of the longest sandy beaches in Japan.

In the southwest of the country, where the East China Sea meets Japan, the climatic conditions for whisky are ideal: Mild summers and wild, windy winters ensure that the distillates mature quickly.  

Critics all over the world agree: After just a short time, the bottlings taste much more mature than their age would suggest.  

They are mainly stored in American Oak Casks, which were prefilled with the parent company's celebrated "Mellowed Kozuru" shochu.

Kanosuke started operations in 2017 - with three instead of two Stills, more common for small craft distilleries.  

The pot stills are unique. 
They differ in the shape of the neck and the angle of the lyne arm.  

Whether through redistillation in different stills or blending of distillates from the pot still trio: Kanosuke is (as has been proven several times in competitions) able to create whiskies with great depth and an exceptionally smooth texture create.

The Kanosuke 2022 Limited Edition was distilled between 2017 and 2019 in all three stills from unpeated barley malt and bottled at cask strength in 2022.

Kanosuke's fourth Limited Edition Single Malt is different differs from its predecessors with a high proportion of sherry casks.  

There are clear sherry influences on the nose and palate in combination with complex notes of coffee sweets, maritime spice and a pleasant bittersweetness.
