Black Tot Finest Caribbean Rum is a select blend of rums from the Caribbean states of Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica.
Inspired by a centuries-old He sets tradition as amonument for the modern palate.
Black Tot marries four molasses distillates that tropically matured in bourbon casks made from American white oak:

• three to five year old pot and column still rum from Guyana (40%)
• five-year Pot and Column Still Rum from Barbados (35%)
• unaged rum, distilled in Pot and Column Still in Guyana (20%)
• three year old High Ester Jamaican Rum from the Pot Still ( 5%)

Unadulterated by added sugar, chill filtration or colorings the individual rum varieties merge into a versatile, strong character and affordable premium blend . Intense and full-bodied, tropical-fruity, aromatic and unconventional, the 46.2 percent Black Tot is ideal for pure enjoyment. At the same time, it gives cocktails depth and complexity.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Black Tot Rum tastes like

• Nose: inviting, with a tropical hint of pineapple, melon and a wealth of Caribbean delicacies - lush aromas of banana pancakes, plantain pastries, overripe mango and crème brûlée are complemented by fresh honeysuckle blossoms and eucalyptus
• Palate: rounded and full-bodied, with butterscotch, banana cream and caramel at the beginning - gentle cinnamon and allspice combine with more fruit - baked apples, pineapple cubes and dried mango - behind it coffee, dark chocolate and black Pepper
• Finish: the chocolaty coffee fades away, leaving behind roasted bananas and a tingle of anise

What is the Black Tot?

Since 1731, official rum rations were offered throughout the British fleet. On the long crossings, the sugar cane liquor simply lasted longer than wine, beer or water, which spoiled particularly quickly.
The Navy bought instead mainly rum in English ports - and became an involuntary blending pioneer.
The rum was acquired in Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana and later Trinidad strong>, but also from other countries when supplies required it. A total of around 18 million liters of this “world blend” was available in wooden vats at any time.
Almost 250 years of technical developments later, the navy was a different place - and drinking alcohol on board was much more dangerous. On July 31, 1970, the seafaring custom was ceremoniously ended.
The last ration of rum was given out on board the ships at 6 glasses for the morning watch (11 a.m.).
This day went as Black Tot Day entered the history of British seafaring.

With this “funeral” (in fact, some sailors wore mourning clothes) of the official rum ration (the so-called “dead”) in the British Royal Navy went an era over. But: “Black Tot Day” was born - a rum holiday.
