The Scottish Speyside distillery Tamdhu is celebrating its 125th anniversary with this bottling Anniversary in 2022.
The Tamdhu 18 years matured exclusively in ex-Spanish Oloroso sherry casks made from American and European oak.
The result is a full-bodied, fruity single malt whisky with intense notes of ripe sherry, dark ripe fruits and cocoa.
The Tamdhu 18 year old was distilled with an alcohol content of 46.8% volume bottled, ideal for doing without chill filtration, and without the addition of colorants.
Nose: brightly spicy at the beginning, paired with aromas of ripe nuts - then magnificent aromas of juicy raisins, milk chocolate and dark fruits, especially cherries and plums, develop are present - clearly the sherry influence
Palate: mouth-filling, soft and rich - again the ripe fruits and raisins, notes of ripe apples and pears, some vanilla and brown cane sugar develop - above all figs, dates and nuts
Finish: very long on the finish with warm hints of figs, dates and mild spices - fruit salad and nuts behind them
