First matured in former Bourbon Barrels, this Single Malt Whisky got a second maturation in former Tequila Casks.

The Smokehead Tequila Cask Terminado has the typical, unmistakable Smokehead peat taste, but here come delicious and intense notes of heavy peat smoke, Add blood orange and BBQ pineapple.
Under the name Smokehead, the Ian McLeod Distillers have been rocking the single malt market since 2006. The modern, striking metal tube with a skull contains a typical Islay malt.

However, it is not revealed which distillery it comes from. Many whisky fans guess one of the well-known names from the south coast of the island. This is where the heavily peated, powerful, smoky whiskies whose character is usually associated with Islay come from. And the Smokehead also follows this tradition. Peat, smoke and maritime notes are unmistakable. But the Smokehead definitely has more to offer. Spicy notes and a wonderful, clear fruitiness.

Even if fans of the smoke group will get their money's worth here - it is not one-dimensional, the malt with the skull. The Smokehead is a finely made, excellent single malt with an excellent price-enjoyment ratio. And we can all puzzle over where it comes from and have a lively exchange...

Tasting Notes: This is what the Smokehead Tequila Cask Terminado tastes like

• Nose: intense, heavy peat smoke, with juicy blood oranges and grilled pineapple slices 
• Palate: full and mouth-filling - the peat smoke dominates at the beginning - then strong Notes of chewy meringue, again the blood oranges and the BBQ pineapple - clearly behind it toffee, lime and overripe peaches
• Finish: long and complex finish steeped in peat smoke - charred oak and old Leather joins the fruity notes
