Portrait: What makes the Glenmorangie A Tale of Forest special

The Glenmorangie A Tale of the Forest is the first Single Malt Whisky, made from malt dried over botanicals.
It is inspired by the ever-changing nature that the Glenmorangie Director of Whisky Creation experienced during his forays through the forests of his Scottish homeland. 

Smells, sounds and the sight of the forest fueled this experimental limited edition.
Dr. Bill Lumsden used an ancient method of kilning the barley malt over forest extracts such as pine needles and juniper as well as wood smoke. 

As delicious as the flavors were, Glenmorangie illustrator Pomme Chan dreamed up her own fantasy forest, which is now decorates the label and packaging of the whisky.

Tasting Notes: This is what the Glenmorangie A Tale of Forest tastes like

• Nose: sweet malt and fresh biscuit - creamy with clearly strong, floral aromas with juniper or coriander - a little water releases countless herbal and perfume-like aromas, such as juniper, coriander, damp forest, pine needles, nettles and mint - notes of candied cherries, chestnuts and gentle wood smoke follow
• Palate: a peppery, lively taste suddenly develops with notes of peppermint, menthol, eucalyptus, pine, tree resin, angelica root and bitter orange with some aromatic wood smoke - behind it bittersweet notes of oak tannins with oily vanilla and a little Anise continued the forest taste walk
• Finish: long and persistent with tangy citrus notes of oranges and lemons as well as oak
