The King of Islay reincarnated as a flaming phoenix - 2022 Special Release

According to legend, one day the "King of Islay" was reborn.
A spark from the sun fell from the sky and set the land on fire.
When the flames died out, the scorched earth was shrouded in thick smoke.
Suddenly new life rose from the ashes in shimmering plumes of honeyed gold and rich purple.
A majestic phoenix soared on its wings of fire, fueling the Lagavulin distillery and amplifying the spicy intensity of this whiskey.

Lagavulin has long been home to numerous legends.
In a rocky bay stood the castle of the Lords of the Isles who ruled here long ago.
The distillery therefore became increasingly popular: a king born to rule.
The popular Islay malt is made in the birthplace of distilling.
Its intense, smoky character carries more than two hundred years of history.

Matured in new oak casks and smoky reserves, notes of peat, smoke and spice aromas combine with an intense sweetness.
Experience an initial sweet richness before citrus fruits and sea salt enrich the taste with freshness and an explosion of spices.
In the mid-palate, the taste becomes drier, its smoky intensity steadily increasing.
Waves of peat aromas frame the long, characterful finish before the taste experience fades away in fresh heights of spicy smoke.

Nose: dry, with an immediate heavy smokiness - much more intense than usual with Lagavulin - with charcoal and fragrant peat heavily in the foreground, supported by a clean, fresh base note suggesting sea air and mineral scents - greatly reduced, even with a little water, the aroma remains essentially unchanged
Palate: the smooth, slightly oily texture shines with sweet richness - the taste is sweet at first and then takes off with a rising lemony acidity and gains freshness with a pinch of sea salt - salty-smoky intensity - with a little water the taste rounds out and sweetens it, the smoke dominates
Finish: Long, with big waves of peat smoke and freshly fueled highs of spicy and smoky intensity that linger beautifully in the long finish
