Portrait: What makes the Ultramarine - The Extinct Blends Quartet - Compass Box so special.

For the Limited Edition Ultramarine Compass Box was inspired by the antique sherry and pipe tobacco notes of an iconic, luxurious blended scotch that was first released in the late 1980s came. It is the first bottling of the new Extinct Blends quartet.

With toffee, raisins and complex peat notes, Ultramarine is bold in flavor and impressive in texture . The blended Scotch whisky is based on aged malts from the Caol Ila and Glendullan distilleries, aged grain whiskies from the Cameronbridge and Girvan distilleries. As well as an interplay of already married stocks. 5,430 bottles are available worldwide.

The big advantage of blended whisky? You are not limited to the character of one distillery, but can enjoy the best qualities of different distilleries combined. Hardly anyone enables this at such a high level as Compass Box. John Glaser and team create textures and flavors that a single whiskey often cannot achieve. For their luxury blends, the "whisky makers" combine high-quality single malt and single grain whiskies from their own cask store in Scotland.
