Portrait: What makes the Lochlea - Our Barley special

With Lochlea, the Scottish distillery landscape has recently grown to include an independent, family-run farm distillery.
The unmistakable style of their single malt is not only due to the former Laphroaig Distillery Manager and current Lochlea Production Director and Master Blender John Campbellin charge.
As one of only four distilleries in Scotland, Lochlea only uses home-grown barley, distills and matures its whiskey on site. From field to bottle, Lochlea Single Malt is so traceable - completely the distillery's motto, "Dare to be honest".

The permanently available core release of the farm distillers has been available since summer 2022. 
Lochlea Our Barley is the result of the Cask recipe perfected by John Campbell and a blind tasting with the distillery team. 
The Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Lowlands matures in a sophisticated combination of first fill bourbon Barrels, Oloroso Sherry Butts and STR Barriques, i.e. "scraped" or "shaved", "toasted" and "recharred" wine Casks.

With an ideal drinking strength of 46%vol. the alcohol content of the whisky ranges from pear syrup and fruit candies on the nose to fresh fruits and grain notes on the palate to macadamia nuts and orange beeswax.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Lochlea - Our Barley tastes like

• Nose: strong aromas of pear syrup and fruit sweets, followed by hints of spicy jam and cinnamon
• Palate: the notes of fresh fruits and grains typical of Lochlea are present, accompanying them lush tones of light syrup
• Finish: long and full in the finish - macadamia nuts, cream soda with vanilla notes and a wonderfully lingering note of orange beeswax characterize the long finish
