From Cinderella to the "Queen of the Lowlands", that certainly applies to the Bladnoch Distillery since it was brought back to life by David Prior and his team.
The "Master Distiller" at Bladnoch , dr Nick Savage (formerly of Macallan) selected the casks for the new batch of 19 year old Bladnoch single malt whisky - the continuous aging in ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks has brought out heavy and luscious notes.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Bladnoch 19 year old PX Sherry Cask Matured tastes like
- Nose: Black liquorice sticks and old oak wood - floral aromas in the background
- Palate: Liquorice again, plus dried apricots, almonds and nutmeg
- Finish: Sweet, ripe red fruit on a very long finish, plus prunes and dates - slight hints of spicy oak
