When five Finnish friends go to the sauna, the idea of founding a gin and whisky distillery can arise...

That's what happened in Isokyröer, Finland, in 2012 - and that's how the Kyrö distillery came into being.

Kyrö Wood Smoke Malt Rye Whisky is a delicately smoked 100% rye whisky.

According to an old Nordic process, a touch of alder smoke was added to the rye in an old barn.

The whisky is then aged in ex-bourbon, French oak and new American white oak casks.

It is a pre-release and limited edition of a wider range of Kyrö smoked rye whisky.

Nose: Clearly malted rye with aromas of alder smoke, vanilla and caramel

Palate: bold and flavorful rye with hints of dry alder smoke

Finish: Intensely spicy on the finish - clearly the smoke and vanilla again - above all light hints of white pepper and cinnamon berries
