The Ben Nevis 10 year old has unfortunately only been available in small quantities for several years. With muesli, honey and beeswax, a touch of citrus fruit and bitter chocolate, the neither colored nor chill-filtered single malt is a successful example of a West Highland whisky.
Ben Nevis Single Malt has been officially distilled at the foot of Scotland's highest mountain since 1825.
1,345 meters above sea level begins the journey of a central ingredient for the whisky: water. On its way from the summit of Ben Nevis it flows, among other things, through the breathtaking rock formations of the Coire Leis. One of the distillery's few original bottlings available in Europe is dedicated to the small lake.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Ben Nevis 10 year old tastes like
- Nose: ripe lemons and oranges, plus soft heather honey and beeswax - in the background vanilla fudge and shortbread
- Palate: soft and mouth-filling Taste with a pleasant spiciness, notes of muesli and fresh oat flakes, with dark chocolate and light roasted notes
- Finish: medium finish with elegant spicy hints of freshly cut oak, again the muesli and the citrus fruits
