Torn from its sleeping beauty slumber by Angus Dundee Distillers in 2003, the Scottish Highland distillery Glencadam is finally back!
The 13-year-old Single Malt Whisky in a limited edition celebrates the resurrection of the unfortunately relatively unknown malt distillery.
Matured in former Bourbon Casks, the single malt pampers you with Whisky with wonderful notes of ripe summer fruits, fine spices and ripe vanilla.
Often still unknown, but usually unforgotten after tasting: This is Glencadam whisky. The single malts from the small distillery from the East Highlands are created as they were when Glencadam was founded and mature in a variety of high-quality Casks.
At the beginning of the 2000s it was time: Glencadam should no longer just a nameless component of Scottish blends, but rather make a name for itself. Finally. The distillery from the town of Brechin in the Eastern Highlandshas officially been around since 1825.
The founding date shows: Glencadam was licensed early on, after the “Excise Act” massively reduced taxes on whisky. At the same time, an official founding during this period indicates that there were probably “illicit stills” on site before hand, i.e. that they were distilled illegally.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Glencadam 13 year old Batch #5 tastes like
- Nose: at the beginning mirabelle plums and apricots, followed by spicy aromas of cardamom and fresh herbs - over all fresh vanilla and lemon zest
- Palate: mouth-filling and creamy - reminiscent of warm vanilla pudding with sweet raisins and sultanas, with shortbread and Ginger biscuits - fresh apple peels in the background
- Finish: medium finish with elegant tones of roasted nuts and ripe fruits
