Waterford Broomlands 1.2 - Single Farm Origin
Product information "Waterford Broomlands 1.2 - Single Farm Origin"
If you really want to know what whiskey is all about, Waterford is the place to be.
The state-of-the-art distillery from the south-east of Ireland is based on one principle: barley is the source of the aromatic diversity of malt whiskey.
The grain, where and how it grows, is therefore the focus of the team led by whiskey visionary Mark Reynier.
Radically transparent, the distillery's single malts show their place of origin - and reflect it in terms of taste.
Because: Waterford produces strictly according to the principles of the terroir and enriches the market with unique bottlings that show the whiskey nation of Ireland from a completely new perspective.
In May 2022, Waterford will be taking curious connoisseurs for the first time to Broomlands and Ballyroe, two contrasting terroirs near Ireland's south-east coast, with three new products.
In the idyllic Broomlands near Enniscorthy stands the imposing 18th Century Brown farmhouse, home of Mark Brown.
Continuing the family legacy, he grows the barley for Broomlands: Edition 1.1 and Broomlands: Edition 1.2 in highly productive terroir.
Matured in bourbon and virgin oak as well as in premium casks that were filled with first-class (sweet) wines, the single malts offer complex notes from malt biscuits to sparkling spice or from toffee to lemon sorbet.
Nose: Toffee, fudge, green apple, apricot jam, citrus peel, worn leather, stable notes, dark chocolate and malt cookies
Taste: dried spices with an oily note that envelops the tongue and lemon sorbet
Finish: Dry with a gentle spiciness that lingers.
Maturity: 3 years, 8 months, 10 days
Distilled: week 43/2016
Bottled: September 2020
Cask type: 28% French Premium Oak Casks, 20% Vin Doux Naturel Casks (Madeira, Sauternes), 18% New American Oak Casks, 34% First Fill American Oak Casks
