Product information "Kopke 1966 Colheita"

Kopke is the oldest port wine house - every wine in this house tells a story.

The grapes for Kopkes Colheitas are harvested and destemmed by hand at the optimum time, then pressed and processed.

The wine is carefully macerated to extract the colour, tannins and aromas, which are enhanced by constant stirring during fermentation - this is done in barrels (lagares) at a controlled temperature between 28-30 degrees Celsius until the desired level of sweetness (baumé) is reached is.

At this point pomace brandy is then added to make the final fortified wine.

The result is a high quality wine made from a single harvest.

A Colheita wine ages in oak barrels, never less than seven years.

The port wine is then bottled

The Kopke 1966 Colheita has an intense brown color with a brick colored rim showing its longevity.

Nose: appealing dried fruit aromas and clear smoky notes

Palate: Silky and delicate on the palate, with a remarkable structure and elegance - the notes of plum, dried fig and vanilla are well balanced giving the wine a unique and distinctive style

Finish: a uniquely persistent finish

Served chilled, it reveals all its finesse and sophistication, especially when drunk with desserts flavored with caramel, dried fruit and spices, such as caramel fudge with apple and ginger jelly, tarte tatin, crème brûlée and medium-firm cheeses.

Best served at a temperature between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius.
