The story of the whisky: "The Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay"

The unmistakable sound of the bagpipes is in Scotland common sound, especially in the cities and at festivals and celebrations.
But what happens when the piper himself disappears into thin air?
There are several stories about phantom pipers in Scottish history and folklore.
In days gone by, a dark network of tunnels was said to have stretched from the Cove of Grennan to the cliffs of Clanyard Bay near Stranraer.
The locals believed that fairies lived in these tunnels and caves , and no one dared to go in and disturb them, until one day a Piper boldly entered the caves.
He played loudly on his bagpipes, accompanied by his faithful brown dog.
The music blared for hours and slowly faded away until it could no longer be heard.

Suddenly the dog ran out of the cave, frightened and howling without any hair!
The Piper was never seen again.
Although the caves have long since disappeared, on summer nights passers-by have heard the distant sound of bagpipes ringing deep underground.
Perhaps it is the wind blowing through the ancient underground Caves whistles, maybe it's just a trick of the mind, or maybe... just maybe it's the ghost of the piper, playing his Scottish tunes forever.

Chapter Two: Folk

Linkwood has a strong cult following and is very popular with whiskey enthusiasts.
The Single Malt Whisky is considered a fine malt in one of the oldest distilleries in the region.
The distillery was founded in an open field at the time, but is now part of the expanding town of Elgin.
It is located on a reservoir in a beautiful landscape.

The malt can offer the odd surprise, such as anise and smokiness, but it tends to be complex, with sweet and sour notes and some pleasant fruity and grassy notes.

What you need to know about the distillery

The distillery used to grow its own barley and had cows that were fed the distillery's spent - and non-alcoholic - grain.
Linkwood was born as three different 26-year-olds Single malts released, each of which spent 14 years in exRum, Red Wine or Port Wine Casks.
The whisky plays one prominent role in the blends of Johnnie Walker and was also featured as a single malt whisky in Diageo's Flora & Fauna series.
