By the 1700s, ships were shipping Spanish products, including wine, to the colonies in the New World.
Once emptied, the wine barrels in Mexico were filled with Chinguirito, a locally produced rum, and shipped back to Spain.
On the long journey to Europe, the rum received a very special aroma in the former wine barrels.
The rum became known under the name Habanero, which is due to the fact that the last stop on the return trip to Spain took place in Habana, Cuba.
However, because this rum became so popular in Spain that it harmed local producers, the Spanish king imposed a ban on its production.
The name Prohibido refers to this prohibition.
It was not until 1796 that rum was allowed to be produced and consumed again in Mexico.
Ron Prohibido Silver is a Mexican premium rum made from pure sugar cane juice, which is fermented in a particularly gentle process with our own yeast cultures and distilled to this rum by triple distillation in column and copper pot stills.
After 6 months of storage in light to medium "toasted" oak barrels, the distillate undergoes a filtration process that transforms it into this clear rum with its unique variety of aromas.
Nose: soft, sweet and varied notes of aniseed, apple, rose, raisins and plums, as well as orange and lemon - followed by mint, vanilla and light nuances of olives
Taste: gentle balance between citrus and sugar cane
Finish: silky-soft finish of mint, nuts and citrus fruits
