Portrait: What makes the Glasgow Blend Compass Box special
Compass Box leafed through the 1930 book "Whisky" by Aeneas MacDonald and found there the described whiskey preferences of Glasgow society from that time - full and complex, with significantly more flavors than whisky drinkers from other parts of the world like, that's how a whiskey in Glasgow should taste!
On the label you can see the famous Wellington statue that stands in Glasgow, including the traffic cone that the statue has adorned in Glasgow for decades.
For this blend, 33% Lowland Grain Whisky was used from a distillery near Fife and 67% malt whisky from the Islay, Highlands and Speyside regions.
The Islay Single Malt comes from the distillery on Islay's south coast and makes up around 20% of the recipe.
There is also a fruity malt whisky from the town of Brora and a sherry-heavy single malt from the region Aberlour, which makes up approx. 33% of the recipe.
The whole thing is completed by small proportions of malt whisky from Speyside and the Highlands, which are not named in more detail.
