Bright red roofs and buildings break through the lush jungle, spring water gushes out of the wall, meters of sugar cane line the paths: Rhum J.M is home to one of the few distilleries in the world, Rhum, in evergreen Macouba on Martinique Distill agricole. The small traditional company follows the strict regulations of the "Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée". How to meet such high standards of production and enjoyment has been passed on at Rhum J.M since 1845 - up to "Maître de chai" Karine Lassalle, who today is responsible for the diverse product range of Antilles distillery is responsible.

Like all rhums from the family-run distillery, they rely on the very freshly pressed juice of their home-grown sugar cane from the foot of the Montagne Pelée volcano.

No less than the gourmet Serge Valentin from www.whiskyfun.com tried the single cask bottling Rhum Agricole Hors d'Âge 1999/2021, which aged 21 for an unusually long time: "Extraordinary, flabbergasting nose, only to be experienced in the agricoles of good age."
