Times are complicated for the big celebration of anniversaries. The German importer Kirsch Import is celebrating its 45th anniversary without a big bell, but with a really good drama. The single malt for this anniversary comes from none other than the Isle of Raasay Distillery!
In 2020 the distillery wrote its first chapter in its own whisky history. The Isle of Raasay Distillery is the first legal whiskey distillery in the Scottish island of the same name and celebrated the launch of its first standard bottling in summer 2020.
Kirsch Import has now launched the first Special bottling of the windswept distillery outside Great Britain secured.
Unlike the standard of the Scots, only peated barley malt was used for this single malt. As the name suggests, the smoky distillates matured in two different single barrels - a First Fill Chinkapin Oak Cask and a First Fill Oloroso Sherry Cask.
The result combines aromatic smoke and intense dark fruit two of the most beautiful taste profiles in a festive way.
