Portrait: What makes the Kamet special
The Kamet Single Malt Whisky is produced at the foot of Mount Kamet, the third highest peak in the Indian Himalayas.
The land at the foot of the mountain is fertile and offers perfect conditions for growing barley.
In addition, the extreme climatic conditions (from 0-50 degrees Celsius) have a major influence on the maturation of the whisky.
As a result, the share for the angels is an impressive 11-12% annually!
The Piccadilly Distillery, which produces Kamet, has been since th eyear 2012 in operation.
The distillery features Scottish-style pot stills, which produce a light, floral and fruity whisky produce.
In addition, the distillery has its own small cooperage, which produces various types of Casks.
Kamet Single Malt Whisky is a mixture of whiskies that were produced in former Bourbon- (American Oak), former Wine- (French Oak) and former Sherry Casks.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Kamet tastes like
- Nose: at the beginning slightly vinous-fruity aromas, paired with spicy wood - then vanilla, caramel and fine raisins follow - above all nutty and sweet dark chocolate
- Palate: lively entry with vinous fruitiness and spicy liveliness - vanilla notes with a melted mix of fresh and dried fruit notes - subtle nuances of oaky vanilla, spices and dark chocolate
- Finish: long, warm, complex and nutty finish with balanced dry and sherry sweetness that lingers on the palate with spicy oak and tannins for additional spice
