Creag Dhu 40,2%vol. Sample 0,04l
Winner of the Gold Medal at The spirits Business "The Scotch Whisky Masters" 2021
The quality of the whiskey begins with the selection of the finest barley, followed by the perfected mashing and distillation processes, but the key to the extraordinary taste profile lies in the specially selected barrels and how they are roasted and burned out.
Creag Dhu is a very traditional single malt, the Made by master distiller Chris Molyneaux in collaboration with a Speyside distillery, using time-honored Scottish whiskey distilling techniques that have not changed for centuries.
The single malt whisky is stored for at least eight years.
Casks have the greatest influence on the aroma of any single malt whisky.
European sherry oak Casks are selected for the Creag Dhu, which has previously been used to age some of the best sherries on the market.
The most important factor after that is the toasting and charring of these Casks.
It all happens through touch, smell and feel - the perfect char leaves a three-dimensional texture with the char on the outside and valleys in between that allow the whisky to flow onto the toasted surface below.
The exact degree of toast adds to the flavor of the whisky and ensures that all of the vanilla, caramel and fruit notes come through, while the perfect amount of char makes for great smoothness and a very soft and long mouthfeel.
