Noble single malt whiskeys from the Lough Gill distillery in Sligo, Ireland!
The Knocknarea is a 14-year-old single malt whiskey, initially matured for 11 years in former bourbon barrels, then it received a three-year finish in exOloroso sherry barrels.
Master Distiller of the Lough Gill distillery is none other than Billy Walker, who was responsible for breathtaking bottlings in the Scottish distilleries Glendronach, BenRiach, Glenglassaugh and Glenallachie.
In the years 2016 to 2019 the Lough Gill distillery bought 500 barrels of Irish single malt whiskeys under his guidance, which were stored in the distillery and given special finishes in various selected barrels under Billy Walker's hands.
These barrels bridge the time until the first whiskeys of their own can come onto the market.
Nose: fresh wood chips after sharpening with a pencil, with aromas of sandalwood and cedar
Taste: brown cane sugar and juicy raisins at the beginning, followed by notes of caramel and mint
Finish: medium-long finish with notes of freshly ground pepper, schinus berries and tobacco leaves
