The Destillery Lagavulin is located on Scotland's westernmost Isle of Islay. Once a year Lagavulin completes its version for Diageo's Distillers Edition series.
This single malt whisky gets an extra ripening in former Pedro Ximenez barrels - Spain's darkest sherry.
Nose: intense aromas of peat and vanilla, with sweet raisins and toasted malt - over all smoke and iodine-containing peat
Taste: full body with a distinct, grassy malt - then more and more peat and smoke - slightly salty moments, to roasted coffee, again the vanilla and traces of fruit
Finish: very long finish with lots of fruit and peat - spicy oak
