The 16-year-old single malt whisky was matured exclusively in former sherry casks.
Nose: strong aromas of ripe red fruits, paired with the scent of cloves and nutmeg
Taste: mouth-filling with clear notes of dark berries, the sherry influence is recognizable - above all slightly spicy tones - again the cloves and the nutmeg
Finish: soft and slightly sweet on the finish

Ich bevorzuge die unabhängigen Abfüllungen. Der 16er aus der Core range ist allerdings empfehlenswert. Wenn Mortlach denn noch das verflixte colouring sein lassen würde!

Die reine Sherry-Cask Reifung merkt man schon beim Öffnen - ein intensiver, würzig-süßer Duft. Im Geschmack kommen dann mehr Frucht und trockenes Holz dazu und verklingen dann nach und nach. Komplex, aber ausgewogen - für einen genussvollen Moment.
