Aikan means "wedding" in Arawak, the language the first inhabitant of Martinique. Aikan Whiskey Blend Collection Batch no. 1 bears this name, as it links two climates (temperate in Scotland, tropical in Martinique), two Continents (Europe and America) and two worlds (rum and whisky). The label on the back of the whisky bottle reveals a hidden erotic scene. It symbolizes the "completion" of marriage. The two protagonists are an indigenous Arawak chief and a European woman.
First, the whisky matured for three years in French oak barrels in Scotland, then matured for another two years in former Rum Casks under tropical conditions on the island of Martinique .
Nose: rich and pleasant - clear Cocoa, maripan, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and coconut - plums and citrus fruits behind it
Taste: powerful and supple - all the flavors are present again - add chocolates, malt, honey and nuts - with a hint of ginger in the background
Finish: with a hint of caramel, vanilla, coconut, coffee and spices.
