Product information "Myths & Legends II Compass Box 46%vol. Sample 0,04l"
Myths & Legends is a set of three limited editions of Compass Box.
The trilogy highlights the importance and benefits of blending to all categories of Scotch whisky, including single malts.
Each whisky celebrates the use of blending and questions at the same time a certain "myth" about Scotch whisky, the Compass Box has noticed in the industry or among consumers.
Whisky is about creativity and quality, not categories and prejudices.
The Myths & Legends Series uses blending to explore and demonstrate this belief.
Myths & Legends II - the second edition of the trilogy, like the first edition, is a single malt whisky - a single distillery, in this case from the Scottish Speyside. However, it's not a typical "Speyside" Malt Whisky, simply because there is no typical "Speyside" Malt Whisky.
The Concise Character of Myths & Legends II is the result of process decisions made at the distillery, the effects of ripening of different types of barrels and storage time, as well as the decisions regarding the formula of the final blending.
Indications of the whisky taste are in the glass, not in the region of the distillery.
The front label:
It's about how the whisky is made, not where.
In the foreground is a figure in a golden spiral, which shows their importance for the aroma of whisky. This spiral is an allusion to the sinuous copper tubes used in the Glen Elgin distillery (the distillery that made the whisky used in Myths & Legends II) Worm Tub condensers.
It is a symbol of distillery processes in general.
Meanwhile, the landscape (representing the myth of the whisky regions) takes a back seat.
The fact that the region where the distillery is located plays a subordinate role is underlined by the mask, which the woman holding the label in the hand.
The Back Label:
Scotch whisky has a rich selection of stories, myths and legends.
What begins as a myth, however, can become a wisdom that affects our understanding and limits our enjoyment.
Compass Box has decided to question three misleading beliefs about Scotch whiskey in this series.
First, blending is not limited to Blended Scotch Whisky. Single Malt brands also dazzle many different barrels from the same distillery to create their own house style. Another myth says that the "region" of a whisky somehow determines its taste. After all, some believe that malt whiskey from renowned distilleries is too precious to blend in with others.
John Glaser respectfully disagrees.
Myths & Legends II is a single malt whisky of different ages from a single Speyside distillery. In addition to the aromas of tropical fruit and butterscotch you will also discover subtle, hearty notes and spice. This distinctiveness has nothing to do with "Speyside"; Process decisions in the distillery, the effects of ripening and your own decisions regarding the final mix are the most important factors. Indications of the whiskey taste are in the glass, not in the region of the
distillery.
This is the second of three playful and thought-provoking whiskeys.
The recipe:
The blending of different vintages and cask types has shaped the flavors of this whiskey far more than its region of origin.
