Product information "Myths & Legends I Compass Box 46%vol. 0,7l"
Myths & Legends is a set of three limited editions of Compass Box.
The trilogy highlights the importance and benefits of blending to all categories of Scotch whisky, including single malts.
Each whisky celebrates the use of blending and questions at the same time a certain "myth" about Scotch whisky, the Compass Box has noticed in the industry or among consumers. Whisky is about creativity and quality, not categories and prejudices.
The Myths & Legends Series uses blending to explore and demonstrate this belief.
Myths & Legends I is Compass Box's first single malt whisky, although Compass Box would call it Blended Whisky, since the barrels come from a single distillery. In fact, all single malt brands are blends from numerous barrels made in a distillery.
Myths & Legends I was made from two packets of malt whisky distilled in the same distillery in the Northern Highland.
The packages, however, differ greatly and gave two very contrasting impressions of the basic character of the distillery.
By combining these Packages, Compass Box has created a whisky that is full of fragrance and complexity.
It enhances your understanding of the true character of the distillery.
The Front Label:
All Single -Malt brands use blending to achieve complexity and consistency. A single barrel of ripe whisky reveals only one side of the character of a distillery. The golden sun reflects the radiant and clean character of the whisky. The woman and the deer represent two aspects of the Distillery-Character in a figure.
The central figure is almost a hybrid - some woman and some deer. This illustrates the different flavors of the two packages used for "Myths & Legends I" and shows how "single" malts are usually composed of several personalities.
The back label:
Scotch whisky has a rich selection of stories, myths and legends.
What starts as a myth, however, can become a wisdom that affects our understanding and limits our enjoyment.
Compass Box has Determined to question three misleading beliefs about Scotch whisky in this series.
First, blending is not limited to Blended Scotch Whiskey. Single Malt brands also dazzle many different barrels from the same distillery to create their own house style. Another myth says that the "region" of a whisky somehow determines its taste. Finally, some believe that malt whiskey from renowned distilleries is too precious to blend in with others.
"Myths & Legends I" underscores how blending enhances the understanding of Distillery character promotes. Two barrel packs of malt whisky from the same distillery in the northern highlands tasted very different: the younger package was malty and citrusy, the older one much creamier with a ripe fruit character. Each package revealed only one facet of the character of the distillery. The combination has created a whisky full of fragrances with a rounded complexity. The term "single malt" is almost random; it's all about the blend.
This is the first of three playful and thought provoking whiskys.
