Tasting Notes: How does the Scarabus Islay Single Malt tastes like
- Nose: lots of Islay peat and sea salt, then clear aromas of green apples and old leather - above all campfire smoke
- Palate: warming, again the leather - then notes of cooked rhubarb with an elegant vanilla sweetness, behind which soft toffee
- Finish: long, intense finish with noticeable peat and charred wood
What is the secret of the Scarabus?
Legends have it that nature on the Scottish island of Islay has many gifts in store.
This refers to that very special alchemy that has emerged from the passage of time and the sea with its salty breeze.
Supplemented by the finest craftsmanship and the virtuoso game with the barrels, a whiskey has been created for fine spirits who have a love of detail and like to discover new things: Scarabus.
The This unusual name comes from Old Norse, dates back to the 13th century and is best translated as "rocky place".
Bold and honest about its origins, this whisky is also a bit mysterious - all those who approach the expected sensory stimuli with excitement and yet patiently can decode its magic.
The reward is not long in coming: in fact, everything is captured and processed in a scarab the wonderful and unspoilt nature of Islay has to offer.
The Scarabus brand was inspired by John Francis Campbell, an inquisitive and creative contemporary of the 19th century who was born on Islay.
He created the legendary Campbell-St okes Sunshine-Recorder, a measuring device that can determine the duration and intensity of sunshine throughout the day.
True to this principle, curiosity and a keen eye allow us too to capture all of Islay's natural gifts and celebrate them in an exceptional whisky - Scarabus.
The resourceful John Francis Campbell was once again given special recognition: a drawing of his Sunshine recorder can be found on the Scarabus bottle label.

Note 4 +
