Portrait: What makes the Kintyre Botanical Gin Batch "Wildschwein" special

On the peninsula Kintyre, very close to the town of Campbeltown, is Torrisdale Castle - the home of the Beinn an Tuirc Distillery, which has its Kintyre Distill Gin.
As for the Campbeltown distilleries (e.g. Springbank and Glen Scotia) and the peninsula are particularly typical, you also feel strongly connected to the local community and its environment.
Torrisdale Castle has been owned by the Macalister family since 1872. The electricity required has been generated by hydropower for several decades, using spring water from the mountains.
The property comprises approximately 1,200 hectares of rolling hills (Beinn An Tuirc), woodland and farmland withIsland views Arran.

The basis for this botanical gin is the fresh spring water from the mountains, distilled in a small copper still.
For every carton of "Kintyre Gin", a tree is planted on the property and a portion is donated to local charities. The pot still, imported from Germany, holds 230 liters and is powered by electricity from our own hydroelectric power plant.

12 botanicals are used for this exclusive gin, which reflect the coastal character and highlighting the nature of Kintyre - sorrel, orris root, licorice, lemon peel, juniper, Icelandic moss, coriander, almonds, pepper, cinnamon, bitter orange peel and angelica root.

The batches are not simply numbered, but with various local terms from the local dialect or country-specific vocabulary.
This batch is called "Wildschwein" - actually a common word in Kintyre!
