Glenfarclas distilled this single malt whiskey in 1995 and matured it in 13 selected former Oloroso sherry casks for over 22 years, then the barrels were married and in 2017 barreled to 2,400 bottles.

Aroma: clearly sherry and a pleasant fruit acid, with soft aromas of marzipan and almonds
Taste: again the sherry, with ripe, red fruits, dates and figs - above all a pleasant sweetness of cane sugar and molasses - in the background dark chocolate and slightly spicy notes
Finish: a wonderfully long and fruity finish with an elegant spiciness - the sherry is also present again

Edition: 2,400 bottles with individual numbering

Hm. Hier habe ich mich schon mal kritisch zu geäußert. Inzwischen, nach rund 40 Prozent der Flasche (ich hatte Unterstützung) muss ich feststellen:

Zunächst in dieser Form ungenießbar für mich. Und ich bin Fassstärken gewohnt. Mit Wasser - viel Wasser ! - gut. Aber da geht auch der 15-jährige, so wie er ist.

Jetzt habe ich mich da wohl "hingetrunken" und mag ihn auch unverdünnt gerne. Er braucht dann aber laaaange Zeit zum Atmen. Vielleicht hat auch das Öffnen der Flasche einen Prozess in Gang gesetzt.

Bin jetzt froh ihn zu haben, ihn aufgemacht zu haben und die Erfahrung gesammelt zu haben.

Nicht so wie erhofft

Als ziemlicher Glenfarclas-Fan bin ich doch etwas enttäuscht. Ich trinke zu 50 % natürliche Fassstärken, kenne mich also damit aus. Hier jedoch musste ich kapitulieren und heftig verdünnen - also nicht tropfenweise. Nur Alkohol und Brennen, keine GF-typischen Aromen. Nach dem Verdünnen kommt endlich was, auch die typische Rosine und Vanille usw. Aber da kann man auch direkt den 15-jährigen in Trinkstärke 46 % nehmen. Der ist ja auch toll.
So ist das mit den Erwartungen...
