Portrait: What makes the Dos Maderas Seleccion special

Bodegas Williams & Humbert is a major player in the sherry and brandy industry. Founded in 1877 by Alexander Williams and Arthur Humbert, the company is now owned by the Medina family in the second generation.
Winner of the National Architecture Prize is Williams & Humbert is the largest bodega in Europe and has a warehouse of more than 50,000 American oak Casks for aging sherry, brandy and rum.

Dos Maderas Selección is a blend of carefully selected Casks of Dos Maderas 5+5 PX and blends of 10-year-old rums from Barbados and Guyana, which were previously matured in former Bourbon Casks. This unique blend is made at a cask strength of 42%vol. bottled. 

Tasting Notes: This is how the Dos Maderas Seleccion tastes like

  • Nose: full Aromas of soft raisins and dried figs, plus vanilla
  • Palate: deep, versatile and full-bodied - the additional maturation of this rum is reflected in its deep color and its complex character, with a fascinating combination of dried fruits such as raisins and figs, enveloped in vanilla, both in the rich scent and in the velvety taste
  • Finish: a seemingly endless finish with a very pleasant, sweet one Aftertaste

Ich hatte vorher eine Flasche vom 5+5 gehabt, der mich sehr begeistert hat. Dieser hier, ist noch etwas besser, runder, cremiger, hat aber im ersten Moment und beim Nosing mehr Alkohol. Breiter Abgang, mit schöner Süße am Gaumen. Der Mehrpreis gegenüber dem normalen 5+5 ist aber nicht wirklich mit entsprechender Mehrleistung verbunden.
