Portrait: What makes the Wolfburn Morven special
Since January 25th, the young Wolfburn Distillery produces Single Malt Whisky
Highly qualified staff and the most modern distillation technology have ensured that only the best possible New Make spirit flows from the stills. Wolfburn Whisky is produced in a traditional way - by hand, without haste and with the greatest possible attention to quality. The mild, soft and fruity character of the single malt is due to the type of production - long fermentation and gentle slow distillation.
Wolfburn's lightly peated Single Malt Whisky bears the name of the highest mountain in the northern Highlands.
Only lightly peated malt was used for this bottling, so it differs significantly from the other two standard bottlings "Northland" and "Aurora", which are both distilled from unpeated malt.
The phenol content is only 10ppm and still The single malt Whisky has intense notes of peat smoke.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Wolfburn Morven tastes like
- Nose: smoky with aromas of ripe fruits and fresh sea air
- Palate: floral notes, with ripe grains, vanilla and spicy tones
- Finish: again the vanilla and the spice, plus a significant portion Peat and smoke
