Portrait: What makes the Glen Scotia is 18 year old special
Glen Scotia is one of the last distilleries in Campbeltown, Scotland - the whisky region has long maintained a very special and long-standing relationship with Bourbon - and American Oak Barrels.
This traditional cask selection fits perfectly with Glen Scotia's slow fermentation and small batch distillation. The Casks and the type of distillation result in a balanced fruit character, sweet toffee and background spice that makes the malt whisky make up.
Glen Scotia's new 18 -year-old Single Malt Whisky comes in a new design with now 46%vol. alcohol content.
First matured in Refill Bourbon Barrels and Refill American Oak Hogsheads, then for 12 months in First- Fill Oloroso Sherry Casks.
