Portrait: What makes the Glencadam Origin 1825 - The Rather Elegant special
In 2006 it was time: Glencadam should no longer just be a nameless component of Scottish blends, but should make a name for itself.
Finally - because the distillery from the town of Brechin in the Eastern Highlands has officially been around since 1825.
The founding date shows: Glencadam was licensed early after the "Excise Act". Taxes on Whisky have been massively reduced.
At the same time, an official establishment in this area suggests Period indicates that there were probably already "illicit stills" on site, i.e. illegal distillation.
The Glencadam Origin 1825 - The Rather Elegant shows that 180 years of waiting for their single malts was worth it.
"The Rather Elegant" is a composition made from selected exBourbon Barrels made from American white oak and barrels that received a second maturation in former Spanish Oloroso sherry Casks.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Glencadam Origin 1825 - The Rather Elegant tastes like
- Nose: soft with clearly malted barley and a mix of ripe summer fruits - plus traces of Vanilla
- Palate: distinctly banana, pineapple and pear - pleasantly sweet with a delicate mix of spicy notes
- Finish: soft and floral on the finish with clear notes of pear sweets

In der Nase deutliche Eiche. Auch im Mund bleibt die Eiche, frische (Zitrus-)Früchte kommen hinzu und eine angenehme Süße. Ganz im Hintergrund ein wenig Rauch. Angenehm leicht. Im Abgang ausreichend lang. Toller Einstiegs-Malt :-)
