For over 15 years, this single malt first matured in exBourbon barrels before Gordon & MacPhail ripened this Linkwood for another 23 months in exCote Rotie wine barrels from the French Rhone Valley.

Als Geburtsjahrgangs-Whisky-Geschenk gekauft. Die zu Beschenkende weiß davon noch nix, erst mal muss das Diplom gelingen. Dann kann ich vielleicht auch den Geschmack bewerten. Vielleicht geht er auch ungeöffnet in die Sammlung und wird in 100 Jahren versteigert. ;-)

Weiche Eleganz älterer Linkwood-Versionen gepaart mit sattem Rotwein-Einfluss, so würde ich es mal auf den Punkt bringen. Der Einfluss des Fass-Finishs hat der vorherigen Bourbonfass-Lagerung hier ein schönes Kleid aus rotem Samt angezogen. In der Nase schwingen Anklänge von roten Johannisbeeren mit, auf der Zunge kommt dieser Linkwood mit einer fast schön betörenden Süße von etwas Malz, vielen roten Beeren und dunkler Schokolade daher. Auch im Abgang bleibt er lange präsent. Eine meines Erachtens rundum gelungene unabhängige Abfüllung.
