Portrait: What makes the Scapa Skiren special

Scapa, 1885 founded, is the direct neighbor of Highland Park and the second distillery in the Orkneys.
Only half a mile is missing Scapa to the title of "Scotland's northernmost distillery".

The Scapa distillery is located in the Scottish Orkney Islands, far in the north of the country.
With a view of the Scapa Flow, magnificent single malts with a lot of character are created here.

Skiren is an Old Nordic word for shining sky - meaning northern lights.
Scapa matured this bottling exclusively in first-fill American Oak casks.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Scapa Skiren tastes like

  • Nose: lots of honey and cream - plus aromas of apples , tropical fruits and aniseed - slightly nutty in the background
  • Palate: warming in the taste, soft and sweet - again lots of honey and fruit - clearly pear and lemon - spicier becoming with light oak tones and heather
  • Finish: medium long finish - slightly sweet, the oak and heather again

Für mich einer der Besten "ungetorften". Überzeugt mich besonders durch seine etwas ölige milde Art!
