Portrait: What makes the Tomintoul 12 year old special
It is considered one of the smoothest whiskies on Scottish Speyside: Tomintoul is equally popular with beginners and as a relaxed after-work dram. The single malt from the picturesque Cairngorms National Park has been produced using traditional methods since the distillery was founded in 1964.
Robert Fleming has been directing Tomintoul's four tall, high-return pot stills for over 20 years. As a fourth-generation master distiller, the distiller has significantly shaped the extremely soft, malty-floral Tomintoul character - and created accessible “gentle drams” that are award-winning and inexpensive at the same time.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Tomintoul 12 year old tastes like
- Nose: sweet aromas of dried fruits and caramel cream, with the scent of roasted nuts, in the background cocoa powder and baking spices
- Palate: buttery layers of sweet maple syrup, chocolate raisins and brittle mix with fruit bread, roasted coffee beans and fine-cut tobacco
- Finish: fresh pancakes with Maple syrup, candied pecans and café au lait leading to tiramisu, chocolate ganache and warming wood spices

Der Tomintoul 12 Jahre ist ein guter Whisky zu einem guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Nach den gelesenen Bewertungen war ich bei der eigenen Verkostung ein wenig enttäuscht. O.K. fruchtig in der Nase und am Gaumen, aber für nur 40% Vol. brennt er auch nach dem zweiten Schluck ordentlich nach.
